The comparison in the while() condition, may lead to an off-by-one write: while (r->bs < r->s + n * s) { ... } . . . r->np += n; r->np[0] = '\0'; <--- here the segfault. To make the condition correct, we must compare the size using <= and not just <, to account for the position the buffer pointer is moved to. At this point, we just can use growbuf(), the same way we do everywhere else, simplifying the code significantly, as the problem were already solved in that function. ...
